Duncan tied for 44th after opening-round 68

Tyler Duncan fired a 4-under-par 32 on the back nine Thursday to finish with an 2-under 68 in the opening round of The Greenbrier Classic at The Old White TPC in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

Duncan, a 2008 Columbus North graduate, carded a 2-over 36 on the front. He then birdied the first three holes on the back and added another birdie on the 616-yard par-5 No. 17 and is among 20 golfers tied for for 44th place.

Webb Simpson, following a 9-under 61, leads the tournament by one shot over Whee Kim and by two over Joaquin Niemann.
