Duncan tied for fifth after opening-round 66

Tyler Duncan fired a 6-under-par 66 Thursday and is tied for fifth place after the opening-round of the Barbasol Championship.

Duncan, a 2008 Columbus North graduate, started on the back nine and shot 33 on both sides at Kenne Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky. He recorded six birdies and no bogeys.

Troy Merritt leads the tournament after a 10-under 62. Andres Romero, Billy Horschel and Joel Dahmen are tied for second at 7-under 65. Four players, including Duncan, are tied for fifth at 66, four shots behind Merritt.

Brittany Lincicome, the first woman to play in a PGA Tour event since 2008, is tied for 129th after a 6-over 78. She is attempting to be the first to make the cut since Babe Didrikson Zaharias in 1945.
