A Greensburg man was arrested after he attempted to flee on foot from a Columbus police officer.
Officer Trenton Browning was attempting a locate a man who fled on foot from a suspicious vehicle in the 2500 block of Jordan Drive at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
Browning saw the man a short time later in the 2600 block of Sandcrest Boulevard and attempted to speak with him, Harris said. When trying to determine the man’s identity, the individual — later identified as Andrew T. Kress, 38, of Greensburg — fled on foot and refused to stop when ordered to do so, Harris said.
Kress was arrested after Browning deployed a stun gun during a brief foot pursuit, Harris said. Kress was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of driving while suspended with a prior conviction, resisting law enforcement, a Decatur County warrant and false informing, jail officials said.
Kress was being held without bond in the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.
