A local man was arrested on multiple charges after he gave a false name to a Columbus police officer who stopped him.
Officers stopped Dustin T. Cross, 32, Columbus, at 1:30 a.m. Saturday while Cross was riding a bicycle in the 200 block of North Gladstone Avenue, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
He gave a false name to officers, but they later learned it was Cross and confirmed a warrant for his arrest, Harris said. When placing him under arrest, officers searched his backpack and found a small amount of methamphetamine, Harris said.
Cross was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, identity deception, false informing and a Bartholomew County warrant, jail officials said.
