Woman arrested on drug-related charges after traffic stop

A local woman was arrested on several drug charges after a traffic stop.

Columbus police stopped a sport-utility vehicle at 1:25 a.m. Friday after they observed the driver — Tausha N. Hendren, 27, of 1324 Chestnut St. — disregard a stop sign at 14th and California streets, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus police department spokesman.

A police canine was requested and the dog alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from Hendren’s vehicle, Harris said.

Officers searched the SUV and found heroin, pills and other drug paraphernalia, Harris said. Hendren was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of heroin, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, jail officials said.

Hendren was being held at the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $122,500 bond, jail officials said.
