Eagles top Trinity

SEYMOUR — Brown County won three matches in straight sets Wednesday in a 4-1 win at Trinity Lutheran.

Aaron McCann beat Pierce McCammon 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Chase Watson blanked Noah Voelker 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles for the Eagles (3-1). Noah Cochran and Aiden Burt downed Cameron Gruenwald and Hunter Morgan 6-1, 1-6, (10-6) at No. 1 doubles, and Nolan Patterson and Spencer Blee topped Jerry Jiang and Luke Pollert 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

The win for the Cougars (1-1) came at No. 3 singles, where Jace Crockett beat Josh Miller 6-2, 4-6, (10-6).

GIRLS GOLF

Panthers down Warriors

SCOTTSBURG — Peyton Whitehead won medalist honors to lead Jennings County to a 205-215 win against Scottsburg.

Sydney Campbell added a 53 for the Panthers. Annie Ertel and Destiny Joray each shot 55, and Ellie Hearne had a 56.

Eagles win tri match

CLAYTON — Brown County edged Monrovia 208-209 to win a tri match at Deer Creek. South Putnam finished third with a 215.

Ainslie Winton led the Eagles with 50. Ashley Masteller carded a 51, Allison Stogsdill added a 52, Taylor Poling shot 55 and Abby Padgett had a 63.

Cougars blank Pirates

SEYMOUR — Kailene Cockerham scored four goals to lead Trinity Lutheran to a 9-0 win against Charlestown.

Maddie Bell scored two goals, while Sidney Hoene, Emma Goecker, Mary Matthews all added one for the Cougars (3-1). Matthews had two assists, and Cockerham, Hoene, Flossie Cooper, Emilee Lang all added one.

Trinity outshot the Pirates 31-0.

VOLLEYBALL

Cougars win in four

VERSAILLES — South Decatur bounced back from a second-set setback to claim a 25-21, 15-25, 25-23, 25-15 win at South Ripley.

Lana Bell led the Cougars (2-3) with seven kills and six aces. Hannah Ballard recorded 10 assists, Brook Somers had four blocks and Bri Collins notched nine digs.

Also for South Decatur, Madison Owens pounded six kills, Whitnye Burton added seven assists and Burton had eight digs.
