Marketplace: Two honored with Hoosier Hospitality awards

The Indiana Department of Tourism recently presented 17 representatives of the tourism industry with the Hoosier Hospitality Award for their high level of service in tourism-related jobs at hotels, restaurants and attractions in the state.

Among the 17 were Andrea Stewart, chief operating officer of Sprague Hotel Developers and Darla Gartner, banquet captain at Hilton Garden Inn Columbus/Edinburgh, which is owned and operated by Sprague Hotel Developers.

Nominations for Hoosier Hospitality Awards are submitted by community members and customers.

Stewart is the chief operating officer of the Sprague Hotel Developers in Jackson, Bartholomew, Johnson, Marion and Hamilton counties. She started part-time with the company 25 years ago. She has been part of opening several new hotels.

Gartner’s nomination credits her with going the extra mile for all guests and she was honored for her exceptional resourcefulness, according to a statement from the company.
