
PRESCOTT
Columbus Resident Ruth Virginia Dahn, 99, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in Prescott, Arizona.
Ruth was born the youngest of six children on July 8, 1919, in Columbus to Edward and Mary Ritzenthaler.
A lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Columbus, she remembered as a child donating a dime every Sunday to raise money for the bell tower.
She is a 1938 graduate of Columbus High School.
In 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, William Dahn.
Ruth worked at WCSI Radio in Columbus for over 25 years. After retirement, she began a new clerical career at Culligans and continued working for another 15 years.
She was an active member of her church, Kappa Delta Phi sorority and was a Hospice volunteer for over 20 years.
Over the years, Ruth and her late husband, Bill hosted an annual international themed Valentine dinner and wine tasting party for their friends. She loved entertaining family and friends and will long be remembered for her French onion soup. She spent time reading, cooking, volunteering, walking daily with friends, driving and caring for others. At age 96 she bought a piano and started taking lessons. A favorite pastime was shopping garage sales and thrift stores! Her energy was boundless; she remained independent, healthy and active throughout most of her life.
Mrs. Dahn is survived by her sons David (Diana) Dahn, Spencer, IN; Dr. Stephen (Freddi) Dahn, Prescott, AZ; Seven grandsons Christopher(Christine), Jeffrey (Kami), Timothy, Mark, Michael (Mary), Patrick, Wm Kent; Seven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, a sister-in-law, Martha DeClue and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, her parents, her sisters; Blanche Hamlin, Edith Hamlin, Mary Brennan, Louise Waltermire, brother John Ritzenthaler and one great grandchild, Hannah Dahn.
A memorial celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 10 a.m. in the chapel at the First Christian Church of Columbus 531 Fifth Street Columbus.
