South Decatur falls

GREENSBURG — South Decatur was within 14-0 at halftime Friday, but was hit hard by injuries in the second half and fell to Milan 40-0.

The Cougars (1-3) lost quarterback/safety Wyatt Gatewood to a concussion, tailback/linebacker Kenny Meadows to a possible concussion and fullback/defensive end Jacobi Shook to turf toe. They also lost offensive linemen Cody Friend, Charlie Frensmeier and Shaun Walterman to minor injuries.

“The 40-0 was not indicative of the game,” Sauley said. “We were kind of the walking wounded by the end. Basically the fourth quarter and most of the third quarter, we were playing with JV kids. Kelby Shook came in at quarterback and did an outstanding job for being put in that situation.”
