Hope Squad sponsors Suicide Prevention Week speaker

The Hope Squad, a suicide intervention and prevention program coordinated by Ivy Tech Community College – Columbus and IUPUC, will have a free presentation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Columbus Learning Center.

Trisha Palencer, director of clinical services at Life Recover Center, will be the speaker at the event, which is free and open to the public. The presentation is part of National Suicide Prevention Week which is through Saturday.

Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer program designed to train students how to provide outreach to their fellow students in distress with a direct connection to the local mental health system.
