The Columbus Police Department has hired two new police officers.
Kyle Weaver is a 2015 graduate of Columbus East High School and a 2016 graduate of Ivy Tech Community College. During high school, Weaver was a squad leader for the Columbus Police Department Cadet Program.
Weaver previously worked at the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department as a corrections officer.
Andrew Celik is a 2010 graduate of Westside High School in Macon, Georgia. Celik then joined the United States Navy, where he worked as a damage controlman. After being honorably discharged, Celik attended Ivy Tech Community College.
After completing their initial training in Columbus, both officers will attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in October.
