Remnants of Hurricane Ike blew power out for more than 14,000 Bartholomew County Duke Energy customers throughout the day and thousands more suffered outages in Brown, Decatur, Jackson and Jennings counties.

Area businesses and fair supporters paid about $500 each for the privilege of naming a street or a day at the 1994 county 4-H fair, raising more than $4,000 toward the cost of a new Community Building at the fairgrounds.
