GREENSBURG — Columbus North golfer Nathaly Munnicha led the fifth-ranked Bull Dogs to their sixth consecutive Greensburg Sectional title after earning medalist honors on Saturday.
Munnicha had a rough start at Greensburg County Club, but still managed to card a 5-over-par 70 to help North win its 22nd overall sectional crown with a 322. Columbus East also advanced to Saturday’s Lapel Regional after placing third with a 388. Greensburg placed second with a 336.
“We’ve got to play a little better next week,” North coach Scott Seavers said. “But I’m happy to get the win. I’m happy for the girls to win a sectional.”
Both Alex Munnicha and Annie Anderson shot 79, while Ella Wilks posted an 89 for the Bull Dogs. Yestika Nischol was North’s fifth golfer with a 90.

The Olympians finished just six strokes ahead of fourth-place Batesville for the third-and-final qualifying spot.
Kati Brunn delivered a career-best 90 to help advance East. Lauren Steinwedel finished with a 94, Ellie Buntin and Peyton Meier both shot 102 and Harley Gant carded a 106.
“It’s like how our season is,” East coach Troy Buntin said. “It seems like when someone doesn’t play the way they want to, someone else kind of steps it up and has a really good day.”
South Decatur finished ninth with a 491. Annie Gant, who carded a 95, was the Cougars’ top golfer. Katie Vanderbur (119), Ashley Vanaman (133), Joy Tryon (145) and Kamrie Owens (149) were South Decatur’s other competitors.
North and East have a little bit different approaches to the upcoming regional, which will be played at Edgewood Golf Club in Anderson. While Nathaly Munnicha is excited about the Bull Dogs potential to advance to state, Troy Buntin called the regional bonus time for his East golfers.
“There shouldn’t be any pressure,” Buntin said. “Because obviously, I have no expectations from advancing because the competition. There are only five regionals. Hopefully, we can all improve and have a good day.”
