Great Girls luncheon Oct. 23 at FFY: Event matches adult female mentors with youth

Foundation For Youth will host Great Girls, Wonderful Women on Oct. 23 to help raise money for the organization’s general scholarship fund.

The fourth annual event will be noon to 1:30 p.m. at FFY, 405 Hope Ave.

The Great Girls, Wonderful Women program offers community residents a chance to support some of Foundation for Youth’s “great girls,” organizers said. Each table of eight at the event will include six “wonderful women” and two “great girls,” offering a chance for connection and mentorship.

It will feature a keynote address from Columbus City Councilwoman Elaine Wagner, a Columbus native who was elected in 2016. Wagner has been working for Cummins, Inc. for about 10 years and in her free time volunteers in the community.

“We thought she would really connect with the girls,” said Brittany Gray, senior development officer for Foundation for Youth.

Each year, FFY and the event sponsors come up with table gift surprises for those who attend. The Women’s Giving Circle will again provide journals to each FFY “great girl” at the luncheon.

Emcee for the event will be Beth McNeely, German American Bank regional senior vice president. German American is a Sidekick Sponsor for the event, Gray said.

Faurecia is the title sponsor, allowing all luncheon proceeds to benefit Foundation for Youth’s general scholarship fund. The fund enables the organization to serve the children of the community who need assistance the most.

Individual tickets are $100 each, and corporate table sponsorships are available, Gray said.

The event includes a three-course meal prepared by Artisan Foodworks.
