Columbus man arrested after overdose

A local man was arrested on drug-related charges after he overdosed inside a Columbus home.

Columbus police were called to a residence in the 300 block of Clifty Drive at 2 p.m. Saturday where they found an unresponsive man later identified as William J. Lustig, 38, of 6024 E. Pioneer Place, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Columbus police administered two rounds of naloxone to Lustig, Harris said. While firefighters and medics were treating Lustig, officers located narcotics that Lustig had concealed in one of his socks, Harris said.

After Lustig was treated at Columbus Regional Hospital, he was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, Harris said.

Lustig was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $70,000 bond, jail officials said.
