Every two years, the members of two Columbus quilt-making guilds pool their resources and share the best of their craft for the public to enjoy.
“A Gathering of Quilts” comes around again this weekend at a new location, Mill Race Center.
Displays of more than 160 quilts — some stitched by hand, but most by machine — will be available to the public for viewing from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The show will give evidence that quilting is not a lost art, said JoAnn Ferguson of Columbus, vice president of the 90-member Columbus Star Quilters guild, whose members meet monthly during the daytime.
That group is partnering with the 30-member Evening Star Quilters, which also meets once a month but in the evening.
Quilts on display will represent all sizes, from throws to those that will cover a queen-sized bed. They range from several hundred to several thousand pieces.
