Rick Gumm of Tampico made a record-setting run in the pure stock feature by winning his eighth straight feature race on Sept. 29 at Brownstown Speedway.
His win set an all-time record for most consecutive feature wins at the track. The previous record of seven -straight wins was held by Jim Curry in the late models and Earl Plessinger in the street stocks. Mickey Hines of Scipio was second in the feature, with Keaton Streeval of Edinburgh, Derek Clegg of Nabb and Jeremy Huebner of Loogootee completing the top-five drivers.
Marty O’Neal of Spencer won his fifth Indiana Pro late model feature of the year at Brownstown. O’Neal, who drives for North Vernon car owner Larry Hartwell, now has 13 overall feature wins in 2018. Tyler Neal of Paragon finished second to O’Neal, followed by Shelby Miles of Bloomington, Tyler Cain of Paragon and Skyller Lewis of Brownstown.
Jeremy Owens of North Vernon took his first open wheel modified feature of the season by winning the main event over Matt Boknecht of Seymour, Jordan Wever of Bloomington, Jeff Stith of Louisville and Brayden Watson of Bloomington.
Jason Hehman of Brownstown picked up his third super stock feature of the year, taking the victory over Mike Fields of Scottsburg, Tim Schumpe of Vallonia, Josh Divine of Loogootee and Aubrey Eagan of Bedford.
Bill Grant of Clarksville scored his third feature win of the year in the hornet division. Lee Stephenson of Columbus was second, and Gary Whitt of Hooven, Ohio, finished in third. Josh Hallett of Brownstown and Shannon Walp of Hayden rounded out the top five in the main event.

Twin Cities results
Brad Barrow of Bloomington won his first crate late model feature of the season on Sept. 29 at Twin Cities Raceway Park in Vernon. Barrow drives a car owned by Roe Dale Burton of Edinburgh.
Tyler Collins of North Vernon was second in the crate feature, followed by Mark Barber of North Vernon, Dustin Nobbe of Batesville and Paul Ortman of Seymour.
Jeremy Helton of Paris Crossing won the super stock feature race. Jeff Wilson of Butlerville finished behind Helton, with Ross Smith of Columbus, Bobby Davis of Columbus and Randy Brawley of Mooresville completing the top-five drivers.
Andy Anderson of North Vernon took the top honors in the hornet class over Jamie Laufer of Deputy, Greg O’Neill II of Mooresville, Warren Laufer of Madison and Donnie Modesty of Seymour.
Bryson Clark of North Vernon won the pure stock feature, taking the victory over his father Troy Clark of North Vernon, Mark Bruce of Commiskey, Ralph Lane of Greensburg and Jeff Lucas of North Vernon.
Earl Plessinger of Lexington grabbed the open wheel modified main, winning over Trent Green of Milton, Kentucky; Jeff Deckard of Bloomington; Austin Burton of Edinburgh and Brandon Ramsey of Florence, Kentucky.

USAC sprint car results
Justin Grant won his first AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car feature of the season on Sept. 27 during the Smackdown VII at Kokomo Speedway. Tyler Courtney finished second with C.J. Leary, Jason McDougal and Brady Bacon trailing Grant across the finish line.
Kevin Thomas Jr. took the big money home in the “James Dean Classic” for the USAC National Sprint Car Series on Sept. 28 at Gas City’s I-69 Speedway. C.J. Leary ran second to Thomas, with Isaac Chapple, Chris Windom and Chase Stockon completing the top five.
Justin Grant picked up his second AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car event last week on Sept. 29 at Lawrenceburg Speedway. Brady Bacon took the runner-up spot, with Tyler Courtney, Chris Windom and Kevin Thomas Jr. trailing the winner.

Bowersock wins Lawrenceburg finale
Jerry Bowersock wrapped up the 2018 racing season at Lawrenceburg Speedway by taking the win in the open wheel modified division. Jason Hollon was second with Josh Morton taking third. Matt Hamilton and Scotty Kincaid completed the top-five competitors.
Florence hosts championships tonight

Columbus Go-Karts racing tonight
Columbus Speedway Go-Kart Racing will hold the Midwest Dirt Classic tonight at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds. The final event of the season will be on Oct. 20.
UMRA Midgets at Brownstown
The UMRA King of the TQ Midgets will conclude its 2018 racing season next weekend at Brownstown Speedway for the Annual Fun Fest activities. The organization will be racing on Friday and Oct. 13.
Matthew Hedrick currently leads the series standings heading into the final weekend of racing. Tate Martz is second in points, followed by Joey Paxson, Ron Combs and Matt Lux.
Route 44 season concludes
Route 44 Speedway in Liberty has closed out its 2018 racing season. The track champions for this year at the Union County oval are Wendy Lainhart of Charlestown (hornets), Jeffery Jessup of Union City (street stocks), Dalton Smith of Richmond (bombers) and Scottie Williams of Eaton, Ohio (open wheel modifieds).
This week in racing history
From 25 years ago in 1993, Twin Cities hosted its first ever All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint car feature with Kevin Huntley taking the victory. Kelly Kinser was second followed by Joey Saldana, Mark Cummins and Frankie Kerr. In the companion late model feature, it was Marty O’Neal holding off Mark Barber for the win. Gary Barrow was third, with Brad Cummings and James Huff trailing.
