The political action committees supporting U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., are running ads charging Republican Senate candidate Mike Braun with selling Chinese auto parts. Have they been asleep since the 1990s? That’s when the Clinton administration granted communist China “most favored nation” status, and the flood of jobs began.
Congress rewarded businesses for moving manufacturing to communist China. Guess what happened. The companies are still based on the United States, but the factories are in communist China.
I just retired from a long career in the automotive parts industry. We had to compete with the communist Chinese for every contract. Go into any auto parts store, any automotive department, and look at the containers. No matter where you look, it will say “Made in China.”
Maybe, just maybe, the new tariffs will push the U.S. companies to consider making parts on this side of the Pacific. Then maybe American workers can build parts for Mike to distribute. Until then, this is a Democrat-caused problem, and it needs a Republican solution. Vote Mike Braun in November.
