Teacher selected for history program
A Columbus North High School social studies teacher has been selected to participate in a National History Day program.
Nicole Morrison is among 114 educators who were selected for the Legacies of World War I program, a partnership between the U.S. World War I Centennial Commission and National History Day.
Morrison will participate in webinars and discussions while learning about World War I with teachers around the world. She will receive free tuition, graduate credits and materials for the online program.
Walk to School
Day is Wednesday
Seven Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. elementary schools are participating in International Walk to School Day Wednesday.
Walk to School Day is a global event that unites students across 40 different countries on the same day to celebrate and encourage safe routes to school all year long.
Columbus Signature Academy — Fodrea Campus, Columbus Signature Academy — Lincoln Campus, Smith, Schmitt, Parkside, Richards and Taylorsville elementary schools are among the local schools participating.

Nine students from Northside Middle School have been named to the 2018 All-Region Honor Band.
