Local man in jail again 4 days after prior arrest

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Columbus man arrested last week as part of an investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine from a residence is in jail again.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Bush served a warrant on Michael K. Thompson, 59, 5083 S. Vine St., at about 5:36 p.m. Monday. Bush detected the odor of marijuana inside the residence, and a search warrant was obtained and several drug-related items were located.

Thompson was arrested and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of maintaining a common nuisance and a Bartholomew County warrant. He is being held in lieu of $142,500 bond. Previously, on Thursday, he was arrested by the county’s Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team.
