Doyle E. Strahl, 95, of Columbus, passed from this life at 6:52 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018, at his home.
Mr. Strahl retired in 1998 as a tool and die maker from Arvin Industries, where he had served for 46 years.
Doyle was a member of Garden City Church of Christ and the American Legion and was a licensed electrician.
He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling, woodworking and going to auctions.
Mr. Strahl was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
Doyle was born January 28, 1923, in Brown County, the son of Ransom Otto and Adeline Artis Strahl.
He married Marilyn R. Sullivan Day on October 24, 1981.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Loretta (Walter) Anderson of Danville, Indiana, Sandy (Ron) Carpenter of Lake City, Florida, and Stephanie (Ray) Shrader of Columbus; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Sue) Strahl of Orleans, Indiana, and Ransom (Joan) Strahl of Columbus; and sisters, Louise Gearhardt of Greenwood and Dorothy Hatcher of Maryville, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dennis Strahl and Dale Strahl; and sisters, Irene Bearry, Bernice Ketchum and Virginia Glasgow.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Brian Gilroy and Virgil Clotfelter officiating.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to time of service Friday.
Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Garden City Church of Christ.
