A Columbus man arrested last week as part of an investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine from a residence is in jail again.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department deputy Matt Bush served a warrant on Michael K. Thompson, 59, of 5083 S. Vine St., at about 5:36 p.m. Monday. Bush detected the odor of marijuana inside the residence, and a search warrant was obtained and several drug-related items were located.
Thompson was arrested and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of maintaining a common nuisance and a Bartholomew County warrant. He is being held in lieu of $142,500 bond.
Four days earlier, on Thursday, he was arrested by the county’s Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team on preliminary charges of:

- Maintaining a common nuisance
- Theft – receiving stolen property (two counts)
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of paraphernalia
- Bartholomew County warrant
He was released on $41,000 bond.
Monday’s incident with Thompson involved four other people. Lindsey Hebestreit, 30, of 4695 Northeastern Blvd. in Columbus, was arrested and taken jail on preliminary charges of:
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Possession of a synthetic drug
- Visiting a common nuisance
- Parole violation
Hebestreit remains in the Bartholomew County Jail without bond.
Leeann Hoy, 28, 8937 Friendship Drive in Taylorsville, was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was cited and released.
Two others were released without charges.
Bush received assistance from Sgt. Justin Arnholt and deputies Dane Duke, Brandon Sellers and Dylan Prather.
