Partnership aids Cummins’ electrification efforts

Cummins Inc. is partnering with the the Battery Innovation Center, a southwestern Indiana company located near Crane, to receive support in the testing and validation of its next-generation battery systems, and customized training for its workforce.

Over the past year, Columbus-based Cummins has made multiple investments, acquisitions and announcements to bolster its hybrid and fully electric systems among its portfolio of power solutions.

The BIC partnered with Cummins over the past 18 months to aid in testing and validating its new technologies, including battery management systems, battery pack development, product testing and safety testing. The Cummins prototype teams utilize a BIC’s facility in the company’s engineering expertise for electrified powertrains, Cummins said.

"Our partnership has not only accelerated the launch of Cummins’ new electrified power portfolio, but is also nurturing Indiana’s electrification ecosystem," said Julie Furber, Cummins’ executive director of Electrified Power.
