Judith Ann “Judy” Kirby, 75, of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:23 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.

Mrs. Kirby was born February 13, 1943, in Columbus, the loving daughter of O.M. “Pug” and Anis Ruth Enochs Smith.

She married Bob Kirby August 10, 1963 at the First Christian Church, and the Rev. Richard Yeaton officiated.

Mrs. Kirby was a 1961 graduate of Columbus High School.

A homemaker, Mrs. Kirby worked at Arvin Industries for a short time and later worked as a dental assistant for Dr. William Rudolph.

A very gifted artist, Mrs. Kirby taught oil painting classes and was an exhibitor at art and craft shows in southern Indiana.

She was a faithful member of Ogilville Christian Church and enjoyed membership at the Women of the Moose Lodge No. 456.

She cherished the time she spent with her granddaughters and her great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kirby enjoyed camping and she truly enjoyed life, having fun, and she was always the life of the party.

Mrs. Kirby is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob; her daughter, Robin (Denny) Dorsett of Columbus; her granddaughters, Kyla (Carl) Jones of Columbus and Breanna (Josh) Ross of Columbus; her great-grandchildren, Emmitt, Callan, Rolland, and Reagan Jones and Hadelyn Ross; her brothers, Buck Smith of Columbus and Glenn (Dianne) Smith of Columbus; her sister-in-law, Jean Smith of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Kirby was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bill Smith; a sister-in-law, Pam Smith; a niece, and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Martin E. Wright officiating.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday.

Burial will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Ogilville.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Ogilville Christian Church.
