Crusaders fall three times in NACA tournament
DAYTON, Tennessee — Columbus Christian dropped all three of its matches Thursday in the National Association of Christian Athletes Tournament and will play in the Division II bracket today.
The Crusaders, who went 1-1-1 on Wednesday, fell to Kachea 25-16, 25-16; Hickory Classical Christian 25-14, 25-8 and Veritas Christian Academy 25-9, 25-11 on Thursday.
“It was the most ‘off’ day we’ve had this year,” Columbus Christian coach Sarah Stair said. “I told them to leave it at the gym, and we’re going to come back fresh (today).”
Mayah Schundelmier recorded 15 kills, 5 block assists, 11 digs and one ace; and Hannah Stair tallied two kills, 21 assists, two block assists, 13 digs and one ace to lead the Crusaders (28-7-2). Madison Henderson notched three kills, one solo and one assist block and 22 digs.
Also for Columbus Christian, Ellie Ridder posted two kills, four block assists, nine digs and one ace. Michaela Schnudelmier added one kill and 12 digs, Kayla Jones collected 20 digs and Lydia Roth had six digs.
The Division II championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. today and will be webcast at nacasports.net.
