
COLUMBUS
Gebus A. Barnsfather, age 75, of Columbus, passed from this life at 7:25 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 surrounded by his family at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Barnsfather was born December 30, 1942 in Kentucky to the late Charles and Iva Ruth Nelson Barnsfather.
Gebus retired from Rockwell Automotive in 1993 where he worked as a draftsman designer and he received several patents.
He was a member of Columbus Moose Lodge No. 398.
Gebus loved to boat, fish and play cards and he had a passion for woodworking. Most of all he loved his cats; his favorite, Millie, will be buried with him.
Gebus is survived by his wife, Reva; daughter, Carol (Glenn) Betz; stepsons, Bryan (Dan), Jason (Shannon) and Alex (Rachael) Bannister; grandchildren, Jeremy (Angela) Emmitt, Ashley (Ryan) Haag, Samantha (Mick) Toureben, Matthew (Bethany) Andrews and Alexis Bannister; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Putt (Esther) Barnsfather, and a sister, Helen Wheatley.
Gebus was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Morrison and Hillis Barnsfather, and sisters, Katie Kinman, Virginia Malone and Mary Silvia.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Karen Sutherland officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral service.
Private inurnment will be at the Garland Brook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
