WESTPORT
Mr. Gregory M. Bassett, 66, of Westport, died at 6:17 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Bassett was born July 22, 1952, in Johnson County, the son of Dudley Martin and Nellie Rosetta Gatewood Bassett.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Bassett was very proud of being a federally licensed master machine repairman.
He retired after serving 30 years with Cummins Engine Company.
Gregory truly loved his family.
Survivors include his sons, Charles Bassett, Gregory S. Bassett and Buddy Bassett, all of Westport; grandchildren, Loy Martin Bassett and Stacie Michelle Bassett; sister, Shirleen June (Herschel) Shaw of Columbus; sister-in-law, Sondra Bassett of Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert James (Judy) Bassett and Elmer Ray Bassett, and sister, Carolyn Sue (Robert) Sanders.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. Military Honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place after the visitation and there will be no funeral service.
