Entries sought for poster contest

Entries are being sought for the National Missing Children’s Day poster contest as part of an effort between the Indiana State Police and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Students who submit posters must be in the fifth grade with artwork reflecting the theme of “Bringing Our Missing Children Home,” which must appear somewhere on the poster. Posters must be 8-1/2-inches by 14-inches.

The theme may be depicted in the artwork through one or a combination of illustrations and can be created using media such as acrylics, watercolor, pencils, charcoal, magic markers, spray paint, crayons and pastels. Digitally-produced images, collages, cut-outs and stamping will not be eligible for consideration.

The poster must also be accompanied by a completed application that includes a description of the poster and a brief biography of the artist. Each state winner whose poster is selected for the national judging competition will receive a national award certificate from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Deadlines for submissions to be received by Indiana State Police state contest manager Torie Harris is Feb. 1.
