Clifty Creek offers Legado information session

Clifty Creek Elementary School will host an information session for families interested in learning about a dual-language immersion program for the 2019-2020 school year.

Families who have children entering prekindergarten or kindergarten are invited to attend a 6 p.m. session Thursday at Clifty Creek, 4625 E. County Road 50N. Sessions will also be offered at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 6 and at 6 p.m. Jan. 8 at the school.

Applications for the program will be available Dec. 1 and can be found on the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. website at bcsc.k12.in.us. The selection process will take place the week of Feb. 4, according to the district.

Students invited to enter innovation contest

High school students are being invited to participate in a statewide entrepreneurial competition with a chance to win a $10,000 cash prize.

Applications are available for the Innovate WithIN pitch competition, a statewide initiative hosted by the Indiana Economic Development Corp., Indiana Department of Education and Ball State University.

The competition gives students the opportunity to create their own business plans and showcase entrepreneurial ideas throughout the state. Winners of the state competition each receive a $10,000 cash prize, $10,000 toward one year of in-state tuition, internship opportunities and mentoring services.

Participants are invited to work individually or in small groups to submit an innovative idea for a business, product, service or venture. Students will receive feedback from experienced professionals while competing against other individuals across the state in three rounds.
