• my neighbor, Steve, and son, Jeff, for cutting down trees and pulling them out of the way so another neighbor can cut them up for wood, from an old friend.

• the anonymous family that bought our breakfast at Cracker Barrel on Saturday, from the Knott family.

• American Legion Post 54 for wreaths honoring veterans at Mount Olive United Methodist Church and Shiloh Baptist Church.

• the man from Lowe’s for helping me get the salt for my water softener to my car on Wednesday.

• the sporting event announcers for talking over one another, making it impossible to understand either one.

• the city for its plans to buy a failing mall when $5 million could put up a lot of railroad crossing gates.

• the 2:38 a.m. train horn.

• people who feel a need to complain about two words printed in the paper and don’t know why those two words were used.

• the person who wrote the letter about Democrats that contains no proof of accusations.

• the mobile phone company for telling a 75-year-old that she got five free items, then billed her for those items plus unwanted insurance.

• those who want to live in an agricultural area but want all the farmers around them to observe city rules for their benefit.

• the city for wasting our money buying a dying shopping mall and potentially contaminated industrial land.

• whoever dumped their trash in my yard in Bethel Village.

• contractors that took advantage of an elderly customer.
