Icy road conditions contributed to a two-vehicle accident on the Southern Crossing bridge in southern Bartholomew County.
Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the bridge at 6:47 p.m. Monday, deputies said.
A 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Austin Smith, 20, Columbus, was traveling east on Southern Crossing when he lost control of the vehicle on the ice-covered roadway and crossed into the westbound lane, deputies said.
A 2000 Ford Focus, driven by Arron Lee, 25, Columbus, was traveling west and collided with the passenger side of the truck, deputies said. The truck hit the guardrail and rolled over before stopping in the westbound lane, deputies said.
Smith said he was not injured and refused medical treatment. Lee was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital, where he was treated and released, hospital officials said.
Southern Crossing was closed for more than an hour while Bartholomew County Highway Department trucks treated the roadway surface.
