COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Shelbyville man died when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a Columbus resident during a two-vehicle crash in northern Bartholomew County, according to the Indiana State Police.
Trooper Korry Clark, of the Indiana State Police-Versailles Crash Reconstruction Team, indicated that a 2003 Honda Accord driven by Evan Stewart, 27, of Shelbyville, was traveling eastbound on County Road 1000N near Base Road at about 9:30 p.m. Friday. For an unknown reason, Stewart’s vehicle left the roadway before striking a concrete barrier. The vehicle overturned before coming to rest in the roadway, said Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, public information officer for the Versailles District.
Evidence at the scene indicated that Stewart exited his vehicle and was standing in the roadway near the car when he was struck by an eastbound 2002 Chevrolet truck driven by Andrew Adams, 25, of Columbus. Adams’ vehicle also struck Stewart’s vehicle that was stationary in the roadway, Wheeles said.
