Ivy Tech Community College has recognized 19 alumni from around the state as having made a lasting, positive contribution to the community, the state and the college since completing their education. The Distinguished Alumni Awards are given to an individual representing each Ivy Tech campus location around the state.

This year’s winner representing the Columbus campus is Allison Newell Risch.

IUPUC student accepted in Disney program

IUPUC student and Seymour native Demi Oakes has been accepted into the Disney College Program.

The Disney College Program began in 1972 as the Disney Entertainment Work Experience Program. At that time, it was limited to those who were pursuing an arts-related degree and accepted roughly 3 percent of its 3000 applicants. Today, the program has grown to over 50,000 applications per year.

Oakes will work January through May as a merchandise case member.

Once Oakes has completed the semester-long program, she will be eligible to participate in the Disney Alumni Program which runs for 10 weeks during the summer and is designed for current college students and recent graduates who have successfully completed the Disney College Program. Oakes plans on participating in the Alumni Program too.

Oakes graduated from Trinity Lutheran High School in 2017 and is currently a sophomore at IUPUC with an undecided major.
