TAYLORSVILLE
John Ronald Poe, 76, of Taylorsville, died at 3:09 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Poe was born on September 22, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John B. and LaVonne Levell Poe. He married Sharon K. Hawkins on December 2, 1961 in Milltown, Indiana.
John retired from The Republic after 43 years of service. He was a member of Columbus Moose Lodge #398, Eagles Lodge #741, and the American Legion Post #233 in Edinburgh.
Mr. Poe enjoyed motorcycles, mowing and cleaning his vehicles.
Mr. Poe is survived by his wife; Sharon K. Poe, of Taylorsville; children, Duane (Dixie) Poe of Columbus, Darin (Kim) Poe of Edinburgh, and Tina (Jimmy) Norfrey of Columbus; sisters, Diana Fouts of Florida, and Susan Hammond of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Poe is preceded in death by his parents.
In keeping with Mr. Poe’s wishes, cremation is planned and services will be held at a later date.
