Bible Church of Columbus — At the 10 a.m. service Pastor Dave Marvin will continue his series of messages entitled “Preventing Heart Disease.” The church, located at 3010 10th St., will learn how one specific and important step is critical to the health of the heart, both spiritually and physically.
Child care for nursery through preschool is 10 a.m. Sunday.
Children’s ministry, kindergarten to Grade 6, is from 9:45 to 11:10 a.m.
Adult Life groups take place at 8:30 a.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., with varied times on weekdays.

First Presbyterian — Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the church, 512 Seventh St., Columbus, for the second Sunday after Epiphany. The church will focus on the story of Jesus being tempted in the desert as he began his ministry. The sermon, “Voices in the Desert,” will be based on Matthew 4:1-17. After worship there will be Sunday school, and that will be followed by an all-church pitch-in.
Infant and toddler care is available from 9:15 a.m. to noon Sunday.
The men’s and women’s support groups meet at 7 a.m. Fridays, and a second men’s support group of working-age men meets every Monday at 6:15 a.m.
People in need of a meal are invited to Hot Meals, offered 5 p.m. Friday, with entry through the glass doors on Franklin Street.
The church is LGBTQ-friendly, open and affirming to all.

Garden City Church of Christ — A new sermon series, “I Can Only Imagine,” is at 10 a.m. Sunday and will continue for Sunday services through Feb. 3 at the church, 3245 Jonesville Road, Columbus.
Pastor Brian Gilroy will deliver the message of God’s grace and forgiveness. In addition, six Connection groups are meeting for deeper discussion and application during the series. These groups meet at various times throughout the week and at different locations. One will be a ladies-only group. Call the church office at 812-372-1766 with questions or to sign up.
A movie will be shown at 7 p.m. Feb. 8. Tickets are free, but required and available at the church office.

First United Methodist — At Sunday’s 9 a.m. Traditional Service and 10 a.m. Celebration Service, the Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message “Starting the Year Well: Finding Resolutions” at the church, 618 Eighth St., Columbus. The scripture will be John 2:1-22.
Sunday school for all ages begins at 10:10 a.m.
Child care is available during both services.
At 6 p.m. Sunday in the church library, Boles will lead the monthly book club. This month’s discussion will focus on the book “The 100-Year-Old-Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared” by Jonas Jonasson. All are welcome to attend.
On Monday, First United Methodist Church will have its sixth annual “First Cares,” a morning of work in and for the community. Join in at the church at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast, and then from 9 a.m. to noon, join a group to help serve. Opportunities include: baking and boxing cookies, stuffing handmade animal pillows, tying blankets, and working/cleaning at the Turning Point shelter.
From 5 to 10 p.m. Jan. 26th, FUMC will host “Empower You 2019.” This event for middle and high school girls will help them find their true potential. Admission is $10; register by Sunday.

Flintwood Wesleyan — The Amplify non-traditional service is 9 a.m. Sunday and Sunday School classes are at 10 a.m. The Well traditional service is at 11 a.m. Both Amplify and The Well are held in the main sanctuary. They will be led by Rev. Wes Jones, senior pastor. The Prayer Team will meet at 8 a.m. Sunday School classes meet in their regular rooms at the church, located at 5300 E. 25th St., Columbus. Choir practice is at 5 p.m. followed by an evening service at 6 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
“In The Beginning,” a small-group Bible study is at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in The Friendship Center. It is studying the book of Genesis.
On Wednesday there will be a supper at 5:30 p.m., followed by GLOW at 6:15 p.m.
The Prayer Team at 6:15 p.m. in The Prayer Room. Youth meets at 6:30 p.m. and adult Bible study meets at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Grace Lutheran — At the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services, Rev. John Armstrong will be will bringing the message, “Whatever He tells you, do it,” based on John 2:1-11 at the church, 3201 Central Ave. Children’s Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m.
The Alpha Course: an intro to Christian ideas, continues from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the topic “Why did Jesus Die?” Also on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., “Searching the Scriptures” begins with a detailed look at the Ten Commandments. All are welcome. Please contact the church for child care needs.
Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University will be conducted at Grace on Sundays from 3 to 5 p.m. starting Jan. 27. Please contact the office for registration information.
Old Union United Church of Christ — On the second Sunday after Epiphany, the sermon for Sunday’s 10 a.m. service is “The Truth about Miracles,” with text from Isaiah 62:1-5; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11; and John 2:1-11. The church is located at 12703 N. County Road 50W, Edinburgh.
Sunday school will begin at 9 a.m., followed by fellowship at 9:40 a.m.
Wednesday Bible study will resume at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Petersville United Methodist — At the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday, the Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry will deliver the message “Dream” at the church, 2781 N. County Road 500E, Columbus. The Scripture is Luke 4:13-21, and will be shared by the liturgist, Joe Bush. The choir will provide special music, led by Kathy Bush and accompanied by Chris Kimerling, and Teresa Covert will give the children’s sermon. A time of fellowship will follow the service.
At 10:30 a.m., Scherer-Berry will lead the study, “Shaped by God’s Heart — the passion and practices of Missional Churches,” authored by Milfred Minatrea.
The Baker’s Dozen study group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the home of Larry and Connie Nolting; the Journey study class will meet at the home of Chris Kimerling, also on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. New members to either class are always welcome.
Choir practice will be Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. The Sit and Stitch group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, also at the Nolting home. Choir practice is at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the church, and Prayer Time will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

St. Paul Lutheran — At the 8 and 10 a.m. services, Pastor Doug Bauman will present his sermon, “Not Silent,” based on Isaiah 62:1-5. The church will be celebrating the sanctity of life, at 2555 S. County Road 300E, Columbus.
New members that have joined St. Paul during the second half of 2018 will be recognized at the start of the Adult Christian Education Hour at 9:30 a.m.
Open enrollment for the 2019-2020 preschool and kindergarten registration begins Monday. An open house for prospective students will be noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Education Building.

Unitarian Universalist — At 10 a.m. on Sunday, the service will be titled “Every Person,” by Dr. Becca Kastner and Diane Spofford. The church will discuss the spiritual journey of Dr. Becca Kastner from UUCCI youth to forensic psychologist, and contemplate the challenges of the first UU Principle in this line of work: “The inherent worth and dignity of every person” calls for imagining what it is like to travel in someone else’s life.

Westside Community — At the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Pastor Robert Vester will lead the service at the church, State Road 46 West and Tipton Lakes Boulevard, Columbus. His message will be part of a series of sermons titled “Essentials for a New Year.” The children’s program for birth through sixth grade meets at 10 a.m.
The church will be offering the Financial Peace University course beginning on Feb. 6. This nine-lesson course is a step-by-step guide to handle money using biblical wisdom and common sense.

Garden City Church of Christ — Trail Life at GCCC, a Christian-based outdoor adventure for boys in kindergarten through eighth grade, will begin in February at Garden City Church of Christ, 3245 Jonesville Road, Columbus.
