Four Columbus North High School students have been named candidates to be named U.S. Presidential Scholars.
Candidates include Claire Kim, Julia Iorio, Lily Johnson and Cole Bennett.
They are among 4,500 students selected from the nearly 3.6 million students expected to graduate from U.S. high schools this year. Scholars are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities.
A panel of educators will review the candidates and select 600 semifinalists in early April, with the scholars being named in May.
