Around Town – February 9

Orchids to …

• those for the Green New Deal that would help protect our children and grandchildren’s future.

• Democrats in Washington for not caving into the president.

• Josh for cleaning out the drains so that water can get out and putting all the cans in place, from your neighbor.

• Sonya the nursing supervisor at Columbus Regional Hospital for retrieving my keys Wednesday night, from a grateful employee.

• the management at The Republic for getting the placement of my newspaper delivery corrected and to my carrier who was doing it correctly.

• letter writer Monica Kelsey for her explanation of the Safe Haven baby boxes.

• the North Vernon Fire Department for installing a baby box.

• Sam Crisp for the great party at Four Seasons Thursday night because the manicures were great, from Wilma.

• Vicki and Seth at GreenTree Senior Living for your dedication, sincerity and ability to provide reassurance and calm during inclement weather, from residents and friends of GreenTree.

• Democrats for their common-sense stance that the southern border needs funding or repairs to existing fencing that has deteriorated and more border patrol and port of entry officers, and not a wall.

• the phenomenal staff at Guardian K-9 for taking such amazing care of my dogs, because they have come out of their shells and grown in their manners.

• the retiring Frank Anderson, a quality tire dealer, a longtime community servant, devoted church member and a faithful supporter of the East High School football program, from one who appreciates his involvement.

• President Trump for his attempt to bring some heads together and get the nation rolling as it should be, including getting the much-needed wall built once and for all.

• people who walk the talk of loving thy neighbor, even the ones who live south of the border.

Onions to …

• the president who continues to hide his tax returns from the American people.

• the top-ranking Democrat who says “no” to a barrier on our southern border.

• those who still think the riverfront project is a good idea.

• those who refuse to accept that more native-born Americans are convicted than illegals for crime in this country, and that the economy is a result of rules and regulations instituted after the 2008 recession.

• the president for his State of the Union address.

• neighbors who have large, loud barking dogs in a otherwise quiet neighborhood

• local law enforcement for not enforcing traffic laws to cyclists.

• the utility company that installed inferior products in subdivisions — which always requires us to call in to have our septic tanks pumped out — but refuses to send people out because the problem is recurring.

• the utility company that informed me they were not cleaning out septic tanks when the clean-out truck was across the street from my residence.

• all the negative, self-centered mudslingers concerned only for their own welfare, forgetting that there are others who have needs.

• the president for complaining about presidential harassment when he has failed to submit tax returns (as promised) and has been unwilling to put his assets in a blind trust.

• all of the Democrats that will not take even one step into reality, regarding Green New Deal and border security.
