A Bartholomew County Jail inmate was arrested on additional drug-related charges after investigators learned she had illegal narcotics while incarcerated.
On Friday, the Bartholomew County Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team and jail corrections officers developed information that Joanna Gearhart, 34, Columbus, had illegal narcotics, deputies said.
Investigators received information that Gearhart was concealing the drugs in a body cavity, deputies said.
A search warrant was obtained and investigators located multiple narcotics items belonging to Gearhart, including methamphetamine, suboxone and marijuana, deputies said.
Gearhart was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and trafficking with an inmate, deputies said.
