William D. Moore, 79, of Columbus passed from this life on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 8:15 p.m. at Franklin Meadows.

Born on August 16, 1939 in Bartholomew County the son of William W. and Irene Phegley Moore. On June 21, 1958 he married Karen A. Mengler.

Mr. Moore retired in 2001 from General Motors where he was a pattern maker. He enjoyed being a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Columbus, Cross Span at St. Peter’s, and Pattern Maker’s League of North America. He and his wife were a member of a small bible study group which met at their home for 15 years. He also enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Karen A. Moore; Sons, David (Maureen) Moore, Danny Moore, Darren (Pam) Moore all of Columbus; Grandchildren, Ashley (Gregg Wildman) Moore, Kendra (Will) Wagner, Brooke (Tavish Hoagland) Moore, Dayton (Kelsay) Moore, Weston Moore, Reese Moore, Laney Moore; Great Grandchildren, Dean, Stella, and Reagan Wagner and Emmalynn Moore; and sisters, Nancy (Jim) Wells, Diana (Joe) Shappard, and LuAnn (Rick) Parker.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Rev. Mark Teike officiating.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and also from 9 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.

Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery-Jonesville.

Memorial contributions may be given to Our Hospice, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Together We Live 2.0, St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery-Jonesville, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
