Clara J. Neukam, 80, of Columbus, passed from this life at 6:51 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Hickory Creek at Columbus.
Clara was born December 8, 1938, in Shelbyville, Indiana, the daughter of Earl and Ellen Harlow Richardson.
Clara was a nurse’s aid at the Heritage House Children’s Center in Shelbyville for many years and
lectured with Quinco on the topic of depression. Clara was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Shelbyville, American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Lodge Auxiliary, and Stigma Busters.
In September 2012, Clara met Rusty, her chihuahua, they would become inseparable and best friends.
Clara is survived by her son, Earl Neukam of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Joshua Harmon of Columbus, Jeremiah Neukam of Indianapolis, Danita Tait of Shelbyville and Barbara Harmon of Columbus; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Sue Lee of Alabama and Earlene Hall of Alabama; a brother, Morris Dale Richardson of Louisiana; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Ellen Harmon; and brothers, Otis Richardson and Charles Robert Richardson.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; the Reverend Dr. Felipe Martinez will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday.
Clara will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery.
