Letter: Methodist Church made correct decision

This is a response to Pat Walkos’ letter on March 8 about same-sex marriage and the Methodist Church. Her letter is so wrong according to the word of God. A Christian cannot be for same-sex marriage or abortion.

She says, "They are some of the nicest people on the planet." Being nice doesn’t make us able to spend eternity with Jesus Christ. Same-sex marriage is a sin as the Bible clearly says. I say, praise God to the Methodist Church for not doing these marriages.

By the way, our problem isn’t Washington, D.C. Rather, it is our churches, where pastors are afraid to preach the truth according to God’s word, and they preach false doctrine, and what the congregation wants to hear.

Walkos says in the letter, "They are upstanding people who contribute to our communities." Does that mean that they can ignore God’s word? No! Hey, people, wake up!

She continues, "The church has an opportunity to help its fellow Americans, but it failed them and their families." Really? No so. We can help them most by showing them John 8:32: "You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free." What kind of a family is helped by having parents who are both of the same sex? A child should not be raised under these circumstances. How confusing for the child.

If Christians vote for politicians who are for abortion and same-sex marriages, then we as Christians also commit the sins with the sinner. Murder is a sin.

I commend the Methodist Church for its decision to not do same-sex marriages. Actually, if they did vote that as OK, I personally would have left that denomination as fast as possible. There will be no denominations in heaven!

Lastly, the worst bondage we can be under is religion, which is man-made and thus confuses people to divide right from wrong. People should read their Bibles. All truth is there.

If one’s church does things not in God’s word, then there should be some changes made at the church.

I believe in the blood and Jesus crucified on the cross. How about others? The midnight hour is here.
