A construction crew led by the volunteer Mission Columbus group still can use more help for work set to begin next week on office space for The ASAP Hub at the Doug Otto Center.
The Hub will be the headquarters for the Alliance for Substance Abuse Progress at 1531 13th St. in Columbus. Because of its limited budget and because alliance leaders want to be good stewards of funds, they are using volunteers for much the work. Some of those volunteers have either extensive construction experience or have worked professionally in a construction-related field.
Steve Ferdon of Mission Columbus is heading the effort. Ferdon could use all kinds of volunteers, including those with no experience. But he also is seeking skilled workers for jobs as specialized as drywall and electrical.
For now, plans call for volunteers to work on Tuesday evenings, all parts of Fridays, and Saturday mornings.
