Amazing Grace Gospel — A new church in Columbus. Worship services are at 10:30 a.m., with an evening mass at 6:30 p.m, led by Pastor Tom Deane.

Bible study is every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and there is an open mic night every Friday at 6:30 p.m. Bring songs and instruments and praise the lord.

The church is located at 2611 Central Ave., Suite 2, Columbus, adjacent to Amazing Joe’s restaurant and next to the All State Insurance Building.

First Presbyterian — Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the church, 512 Seventh St., Columbus. On the third Sunday of Lent, the Gospel for the day, Matthew 22:1-14, will be brought by Marietta Macy, our Director of Children, Youth and Young Adult Ministries. It is the parable of the wedding banquet.

Infant and toddler care is available from 9:15 a.m. to noon Sunday.

The men’s and women’s support groups meet at 7 a.m. Fridays, and a second men’s support group of working-age men meets every Monday at 6:15 a.m.

People in need of a meal are invited to Hot Meals, offered 5 p.m. Friday, with entry through the glass doors on Franklin Street.

The church is LGBTQ-friendly, open and affirming to all.

First United Methodist — On Sunday at the 9 a.m. Traditional Service and the 11 a.m. Celebration Service, Rev. Kim King will deliver the message at the church, 618 Eighth St., Columbus. Sunday school for all ages begins at 10:10 a.m. Child care is available during both services.

Flintwood Wesleyan — This Sunday the non-traditional Amplify service is at 9 a.m. and The Well traditional service is at 11 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Wes Jones, senior pastor, at 5300 E. 25th St., Columbus. The Prayer team meets at 8 a.m. and Sunday school classes meet at their regular rooms. Choir practice is at 5 p.m. followed by the evening service at 6 p.m.

The small group Bible study “In The Beginning…” will resume at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in The Friendship Center. It is studying the book of Genesis.

Wednesday activities begin with supper at 5:30 p.m. followed by GLOW at 6:15 p.m. The Prayer Team meets at 6:15 p.m. in The Prayer Room. Youth meets at 6:30 p.m. and adult Bible study meets at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.

On Thursdays, Cub Scout Pack 588 will meet when events are scheduled and Boy Scout Troop 588 will meet at 7 p.m.

Sunday, March 31, will be Membership Sunday. The church will take members in during both worship services. A pitch-in dinner will follow the 11 a.m. service. Evening activities will be dismissed. If you are interested in membership but haven’t signed up for class, please see Pastor Wes Jones.

Garden City Church of Christ — At the 10 a.m. worship on Sunday, the title for the sermon is “Faith at Home: Building Strong Families at Garden City Church of Christ,” and will be presented by Pastor Brian Gilroy.

Through March 31, there will be a series that will emphasize the calling to pass down our faith in homes and to the next generation. The series will cover every area of home life with messages to married couples, singles, men, women and young people.

Prayer Emphasis Week begins March 24, so there will be a special speaker from Harvest Prayer Ministries speaking on that Sunday.

Memorial Baptist — Worship begins at 9:30 a.m., at 2320 Seventh St., Columbus. Over the next few weeks leading up to Easter the church will be going through a series entitled “Cultivating and Letting Go.” This will be a study of Jesus’ life and ministry leading to the cross. The church will be challenged to let go of the things which are hindering one and cultivate those things which deepen ones relationship with God.

Sunday school classes for all ages follows at 10:45 a.m. There are programs for both Children and Youth as well.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Join at 10 a.m. on Sunday for the third Sunday of Lent. Sunday school is at 9 a.m., followed by fellowship at 9:40 a.m. Pastor Kirby Rupp will deliver the message, “A Christ Event,” with readings from Isaiah 55:1-9; 1 Corinthians 10:1-13; and Luke 13:1-9.

Wednesday Bible Study resumes at 6 p.m.

St. Paul Lutheran — The 8 and 10:45 a.m. services this Sunday will be celebrated at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 6045 E. State St., Columbus, with Pastor Doug Bauman’s sermon entitled “The Unjust and Just God,” based on Ezekiel 33:7-20. Christian Educational classes for all ages begin at 9:30 a.m. Spanish worship service will held at 10:45 a.m.

The theme for the 6:45 p.m. Wednesday Lenten service will be based on Learn from Jesus Christ to Pray with Pastor Bauman’s sermon entitled “The High Priestly Prayer.”

A hymn sing will precede the service beginning at 6:30 p.m. A chicken and dressing dinner will be served from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Room for a free-will offering that will benefit the Ascension Lutheran School in Gary, Indiana.

Pastor Doug Bauman will be the featured speaker for the Aurora Circuit Forum at St. John Lutheran Church, 220 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana on Sunday, March 31 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. with the theme “Lutheran: What Does This Mean?” All are invited and cost is free.

Petersville United Methodist — At the 9 a.m. worship service on Mission Emphasis Sunday, the Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry will deliver the message, “tuning In.” Scriptures from Luke 10 will be shared by the liturgist Patsy Harris, at the church 2781 N. County Road 500E, Columbus. Allyson Loper with sing the song, “Perfect Peace,” and Teresa Covert will give the children’s sermon. A time of fellowship will follow the service.

At 10:30 a.m., the study, “Shaped by God’s Heart,” will convene and will be led by the pastor.

The Baker’s Dozen study group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the home of Larry and Connie Nolting. The Journey study class also meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Chris Kimerling’s home. New members are always welcome to both classes.

The Sit and Stitch group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, also at the Nolting home. Choir practice is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, and the Prayer Group will meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

The United Methodist Women’s group will meet 6 p.m. March 28 at the church, with Barb Hedrick as hostess.

Unitarian Universalist — At 10 a.m. on Sunday, the service message, “Building a Supportive Community for Our Youngest Residents,” will be given by Heather Carson, about how UUCCI values the love and compassion towards the children of the church, and how important social-emotional health is to the heart of a resilient youth and leads them to success, engagement and gives them more opportunities for the future in the community. Heather Carson, Director of the Council for Youth Development, will share an update on this organization’s efforts here in Columbus. Join the church in recognizing the role people play in building developmental assets in the local youth.

Westside Community — At 10 a.m. Sunday, Pastor Robert Vestor will lead the service at the church, at State Road 46 West and Tipton Lakes Blvd., Columbus. The pastors are continuing a new sermon series titled “Before I Die…”

The children’s program for birth through sixth grade meets at the same time as the 10 a.m. worship service.

The Tuesday morning women’s Bible study is beginning a new study titled “Jesus’ Final Week,” by Cindy Bunch. All ladies are invited to this class which meets each Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the church.

Westside will host an Easter Egg Hunt from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at the church for children from birth through 6 grade.

Lowell General Baptist Church — There will be a hymn sing at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 6. The featured singers will be The Sextons from Hardyville, Kentucky.

East Columbus Christian Church — South Central Indiana Christian Men’s Fellowship, 6:30 p.m. March 26 at East Columbus Christian Church, 3170 Indiana Ave., Columbus. Speaker is Kendall Wildey. Dinner starts at 6:30, followed by the program at 7:15. The menu is pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, chips, drinks and dessert. Information: Alvin Balmer 526-2071.

First United Methodist — At 7 p.m. March 29, FUMC, as part of their Fridays@First concert series, will present the Purdue Varsity Glee Club. This is a free event, but due to the seating capacity of the sanctuary a ticket will have to be obtained. Tickets are available from the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and one may get up to 10 tickets. Tickets can be obtained by going to their office, by calling 812-376-2638, or online at thecip.org/tickets. Tickets and seating will be on a first come, first serve basis.
