COLUMBUS
Roy Dean Shelton, 62, of Columbus, passed away at 8:18 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2019 at his home.
Roy was born January 26, 1957, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Melvin R. and Grace M. Spencer Shelton. He married Rhonda Buckler on August 31, 2008.
Mr. Shelton was an avid farmer and vice president of J & R Shelton Incorporated. He was a hard worker his entire life. When he wasn’t working, Roy enjoyed gambling. He will be remembered as a loving family man that enjoyed country living.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; children, David (Sunanda) Shelton, Brian (Christina) Shelton, both of Columbus; step-daughter, Melissa (Dave) Knops of Edinburgh, step-son, Joshua Kirby of Hope; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Joe (Rebecca) Shelton of Columbus; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Quincy Ray Shelton; great-grandson, Carter Back and step-daughter, Amber Dawn Kirby.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
