Bartholomew Consolidated School Board approved expediting construction plans for both Columbus East and North high schools, hoping to take advantage of lower material prices and because construction companies were looking for work.

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Arvin Industries, company officials presented a $75,000 gift to Columbus Youth Camp for improvements at Noblitt Shelter House and other facilities on the 70-acre preserve operated by Foundation for Youth.

The new playground at the corner of Indiana Avenue and Belmont Street was named Stadler Park in honor of Stadler Packing Co., which provided the land.
