A Hartsville man crashed his vehicle into a guardrail after investigators said he failed to stop for Columbus Police officers while eastbound on 25th Street.
Officers attempted to stop a car driven by Steven Jordan, 68, of 19565 E. County Road 50N, Hartsville on Sunday after being sent to check on a possible intoxicated driver, Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies said.
Deputies Brandon Sellers and Frank Munoz saw Jordan’s vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and pursued it to the intersection of State Road 9 and East State road 46 where Jordan hit the guardrail, deputies said.
Jordan was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and reckless driving, deputies said. He was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then transported to the jail, deputies said.
Jordan was released from the Bartholomew County Jail after posting $15,000 bond, jail officials said.
