Olympians win invite
SEYMOUR — The Columbus East boys won seven events Tuesday night in cruising to the Seymour Invitational championship.
The Olympians finished with 154 points. Bedford North Lawrence took second with 129, followed by Jennings County with 90, Seymour with 58 and Madison with 30.
Crase Bergman led East with wins in the 400 meters (53.30 seconds) and 200 (23.62). Tyler Settle took the long jump (20 feet, 11 1/2 inches), Cody Horner captured the 100 (11.50) and Owen Rupp won the 300 hurdles (43.70).
The Olympians’ Rupp, Settle, Ellior Koopman and Horner won the 4×100 relay (45.04). Rupp, Seth Chandler, Malachi Parks and Bergman took the 4×400 relay (3:41.57).
Carter Leak led the Panthers with wins in the 1,600 (4:37.69) and 3,200 (10:11.65). Lane Elsner took the 800 (2:06.12) and teamed with Alex Hendrix, Jason Gasper and AJ Siener to capture the 4×800 relay (8:38.18).
North boys take tri
ST. LEON — Columbus North’s boys edged host East Central 75-73 to win a tri meet. Shelbyville finished third with 28 points.
Preston Terrell led the Bull Dogs with wins in the high jump (6-4) and long jump (21-2 1/2). Tucker Smith took the shot put (55-2), John Sluys captured the 3,200 (9:49) and North won the 4×800 (8:44) and 4×400 (3:30) relays.
East Central won the girls meet with 76 1/2 points to 67 1/2 for the Bull Dogs and 23 for Shelbyville.
Winners for the North girls were Adrienne Salemme in the pole vault (11-0), Emily Herndon in the shot (39-4), Sydney Geckler in the 1,600 (5:38) and Abi Jacobi in the 3,200 (11:39). The Bull Dogs also took the 4×800 relay (10:11).
BOYS GOLF
North wins tri match
Henry Kiel won medalist honors with a 74, and Columbus North edged fifth-ranked Zionsville 314-316 at Harrison Lake Country Club. Bedford North Lawrence finished third with a 334.
Drew Smith carded a 79 for the Bull Dogs. Jackson Kerber added an 80, Luke VanDeventer shot 81, Luke Schneider had an 83 and Jacob Niedbalski finished with an 88.
Panthers nip New Albany
FLOYDS KNOBS — Bryce Kirchner won medalist honors with a 35, and Jennings County edged New Albany 170-171 at Valley View.
Adam Leach carded a 40 for the Panthers. Joe Kelley added a 46, Brett Silvey shot 49, Weston Miller had a 50 and Zach Bingham finished with a 56.
Trinity takes tri
EDINBURGH — Jacob Keith fired a 1-under-par 35 to win medalist honors and lead Trinity Lutheran to a tri-match win at Timbergate. The Cougars had a 158 team total to 181 for Beech Grove and 200 for host Edinburgh.
Jacob Sabotin carded a 39 for Trinity. Mark Shoemaker added a 41, Ryland Nierman shot 43 and Joe Foster had a 44.
Bladen Hancock led the Lancers with a 36. Travis Jones added a 54, Jordan Myers and Parker Neumann each shot 55 and Noah Childers had a 66.

Columbus Christian wins
Emily Stair and Kayden Hofelich combined on a two-hitter
Kayla Jones went 2 for 5 for the Crusaders (3-0). Hofelich and Lydia Roth each had three RBIs; and Hannah Stair, Ellie Ridder, Madi Blair and Grace Graham all added two RBIs.
Tigers topple Jets
FAIRLAND — Hauser led 1-0 after 2 1/2 innings, but Triton Central scored four times in the third and five times in the fourth on its way to a 10-3 win.
Zoee Artis went 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the Jets (2-9). Zoee Nading went 2 for 4.
Tri tops South Decatur
GREENSBURG — Class A No. 9 Tri no-hit South Decatur in a 13-0, five-inning decision.
The Cougars fell to 0-9.
Senators slip past Trinity
CAMPELLSBURG — West Washington took advantage of six Trinity Lutheran errors in handing the Cougars a 9-6 defeat.
Kamzi Gross had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for Trinity (4-4).
BASEBALL
Stars topple Olympians
BEDFORD — Bedford North Lawrence limited Columbus East to five hits in posting a 3-1 victory.
Cole Gilley threw a five-hitter for the Olympians (10-2).
Columbus Christian falls
BROWNSBURG — Columbus Christian scored three times in the top of the first, but after that it was all Bethesda Christian in a 22-3, five-inning decision.
Ethan Nickerson had two RBIs for the Crusaders (1-6).
Spartans stop Eagles
SHELBYVILLE — Brown County took an early 1-0 lead, but Southwestern (Shelby) rallied for a 3-1 victory.
Bryce Walker went 2 for 3 for the Eagles (7-6).
Twisters run-rule Cougars
GREENSBURG — Oldenburg Academy broke open a close game by scoring 11 times in the sixth to claim a 16-2, six-inning victory at South Decatur.
The Cougars (3-6) were limited to three hits.
GIRLS TENNIS
East falls to Franklin
FRANKLIN — Columbus North won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but Franklin won the other three matches to claim a 3-2 victory.
Kathryn Hodzen at No. 1 singles and Megna Chari at No. 2 singles both won by 6-4, 7-5 scores for the Olympians (6-4). Louna Prince at No. 3 singles, Ayano Nomura and Emie Kiser at No. 1 doubles and Cathrine Millwood and Cristina Marco at No. 2 doubles all fell by 6-1, 6-0 scores.
Jets edge Mohawks
WALDRON — With Waldron having only six playes, Hauser won by default at No. 3 singles to pull out a 3-2 Mid-Hoosier Conference victory.
Abby Johnson beat Caroline Sheafer 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Aunaka Wasil and Maddy Archer downed Amanda Brinson and Nichole Garner 6-3, 6-4. at No. 1 doubles for the Jets. (5-4, 2-1). Brooke Hopkins won by default at No. 3 singles.
Hauser’s Andie Clark fell to Victoria Robidillo 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Gabby Johns and Kaitlynn Everroad lost to Emily Brinson and Megan Bogemann 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

NORTH VERNON — Greensburg won three matches in straight sets in pullout out a 3-2 win at Jennings County.
Reagan Brown beat Ellie Acra 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 (6-1) at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (6-2). Callie Wilder and Sydney Carson downed Kirsten Fong and Bailey Menkedick 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Jennings’ Ellie Hearne fell to Raegen Rigney 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Carmen Kopitzke lost to Sarah Schneider 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Courtney Lykins and Elizabeth Ertel fell to Claudia Westhafer and Aliyah Evans 6-3, 7-6 (3) at No. 2 doubles.

NASHVILLE — Seymour won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win at Brown County.
Baelyn Koester fell to Sandra Cerino 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Meg Smith lost to Peyton Leving 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Hannah Ashler fell to Kirby Hill 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (1-8).
Brown County’s Olivia Baughman and Cassidy Davis lost to Mallory Moore and Kristina Griffin 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Claire Dannelley and Emelia Koester fell to Avery Ragon and Madalyn Baurle 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Braves sweep Lancers
TRAFALGAR — Edinburgh played close first sets at two of the positions, but Indian Creek posted a 5-0 victory.
Destiney Ramey fell to Katie Burkman 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Haven Link lost to Alyssa Pruitt 7-6, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Emily Chappelow fell to Zoe Rayback 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for the Lancers (2-6).
Edinburgh’s Bethany Burton and Katie Roberts lost to Ali Harris and Brooke Coy 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Maddy McGaha and Alyssa Funkhouser fell to Avery Burress and Emilee Scott 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
