Free artist talk Tuesday at visitors center

Chicago-based artist Delano Dunn will speak at as part of the Columbus Area Arts Council’s free speaker series beginning with a meet-and-greet reception at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by his remarks about his art at 6 p.m.

The event will be held at the Columbus Area Visitors Center, 506 Fifth St.

Through painting, mixed media and collage, Dunn explores questions of racial identity and perception, drawing on his experience growing up in south central Los Angeles. He has received awards from the College Art Association and the Sustainable Arts Foundation, and has shown his work at ArtSpace New Haven, PULSE New York and The Delaware Contemporary.

His exhibit, "New Stories of the American Negro," just opened at 411 gallery at 411 Sixth St. in Columbus.

A grant from the African American Fund, part of The Heritage Fund — the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County, is making the event possible, plus support from Tom and Mary Harmon.
