COLUMBUS
Pence B. Pruitt, 89, died Saturday. He was born Feb. 20. 1930 in Columbus to Bert and Roseada (Pence) Pruitt. He grew up in Columbus and was a graduate of Columbus high school.
He held degrees from Indiana University. He was a teacher and school principal in Brown and Johnson counties. He was a counsellor at Camp Atterbury. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.
His surviving children are Kathryn Rose Stockton, of North Carolina; Andrew Pruitt , of Venice, Florida; David, of Missouri; Dirk, of Indianapolis; and Christopher Donahoe, of California. Also surviving are his sisters, Constance Schafer and Ellie Hoeferkamp.
He was preceded in death by his son William, his wife, JoAnn Schofield and sister Rosejane Smith.
According to his wishes no services will follow his cremation.
