North takes second

FRANKLIN — Columbus North came away with a second-place finish Wednesday in a tri match at Hillview Country Club.

Third-ranked Center Grove won with a 293. The No. 19 Bull Dogs finished with a 322, and Franklin was third with a 340.

Drew Smith led North with a 76. Henry Kiel carded an 80, Jacob Niedbaksli added an 82, Luke VanDeventer shot 84, Luke Schnieder had an 88 and Jackson Kerber finished with a 91.

Eagles take first loss

NASHVILLE — After knocking off Class 3A No. 4 Edgewood 13-0 on Tuesday, 3A No. 6 Brown County fell to Edgewood 10-1 on Wednesday for its first loss of the season.

Starting pitcher Allison Stogsdill went 3 for 4 with a double for the Eagles (17-1). Taylor Poling and Myka Snyder each went 2 for 3, and Emma Summers went 2 for 4.

Eagles fall to Mustangs

NASHVILLE — Edgewood needed only five innings to post a 12-1 victory Wednesday at Brown County.

The Eagles (8-10) were limited to two hits.

Tigers blank Lancers

FAIRLAND — Triton Central won four matches in straight sets Wednesday in handing Edinburgh a 5-0 defeat.

Destiney Ramey fell to 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Haley Jones lost to Maya Chandler 6-4, 5-7, (10-8) at No. 2 singles and Annelise Lollar fell to Rylie Stephens 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Lancers (2-10).

Edinburgh’s Haven Link and Emily Chappelow lost to Ainsley Denton and Julia Sanders 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Bethany Burton and Katie Roberts fell to Alli Eck and Miles Glackman 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Cougar boys second

GREENSBURG — South Decatur’s boys finished second and the girls third in Tuesday’s Decatur County meet.

Greensburg won the boys meet with 92 ½ points to 42 for the Cougars and 18 ½ for North Decatur. Greensburg’s girls edged North Decatur 66-63, while South Decatur scored 27.

The Cougar boys had wins from Jacobi Shook in the discus (115 feet) and Trent Nobbe in the 110-meter hurdles (15.7). Second-place finishers included Shook in the shot put (40-7 ½), Shawn Wright in the 100 (12.1), Trevor Newby in the 3,200 (11:57) and the 4×800 (9:59), 4×100 (49.2) and 4×400 (4:11) relay teams.

Lana Bell won the girls high jump (5-0). South Decatur finished second in the 4×400 relay (4:40).

Cougars top Bull Dogs

Zach Hiatt scored four goals, and Avery Larson had three goals and two assists Tuesday, but Columbus North fell to Bloomington North 17-9.

Tom Sullivan and Nate Jenkins each added a goal for the Bull Dogs. Owen Barkes, Carson Bennett and Kirkland Kuntz all had an assist. Avery Spencer recorded 11 saves.
